Best Dehumidifiers Tried And Tested

December 21, 2018

Whether you're suffering from rising damp in your London home, or are just having problems when drying your clothes indoors during the winter months, a good dehumidifier is the best way to start to dry out your home before looking into damp proofing solutions. If you're not sure where to begin with a purchase of one of these little gadgets, the clever people at Which? have just released their latest picks of the dehumidifier market to help with your buying decision.

Testing 30 dehumidifiers, Which? looked at which dehumidifiers pulled water from the air the quickest, both at room temperature and at colder temperatures, meaning you can choose the one that best suits your problem room. They also looked at how much noise each of the dehumidifiers make, as if you purchase one for a room that you spend a lot of time in, you'll not want to leave it running if it makes a loud or annoying sound.

While you have to sign up to Which? to get hold of their full list of recommendations, they have released a smaller list of those that are specifically suited to drying laundry. Three of their recommendations, which scored over 75 per cent in their tough test, also come with a laundry drying mode.

For example, the Meaco Dry ABC 12LG, which retails at £160. They describe it as super quiet, and it also features a digital display, which will show you the humidity levels throughout the day. You can also attach a hose, sold separately, for continuous water extraction, which means you won't need to empty it, and that you can leave it running for extended periods of time.

You can find more recommendations for dehumidifiers from Which? here

Once you have removed the humidity in the affected area we would recommend you contact DAMPCURE-WOODCURE/30 LTD. In order to install proper Condensation fans which will keep the area ventilated.

Also whilst the Dehumidifiers work for the specific purpose of removing a severe build up of humidity in the area this is only a short term solution.

Condensation is a life time issue  and the occupier of the property must take steps to stop the actions providing conditions for this.

  1. Not drying wet clothes in the property

  2. Installing a clothes dryer

  3. Closing doors to the bathroom and kitchen whilst bathing and cooking.

  4. Opening windows after cooking and bathing.

  5. Keeping furniture etc away from walls thus allowing airflow to these areas.

DAMPCURE-WOODCURE/30 LTD. Has a useful Data Sheet regarding the causes of Condensation and how to deal with it.  Telephone 01923 663322 and ask for copy of this Data Sheet or send us
