WOODWORM TREATMENT

Woodworm is a collective name for the number of species of wood boring insects.

The term woodworm actually refers to the pupa which bores through the wood. The active life cycle of the woodworm species can vary from 1 year to 14 years.

Wood Boring Weevil	House Longhorn Beetle
Usually associated with wood decayed by fungus i.e. Wet Rot leaving flight holes of ragged appearance. Around 1mm diameter	Causes rapid and severe damage in softwoods, mainly in London and the Home Counties. Oval flight holes up to 10mm x 6mm

Common Furniture Beetle	Death Watch Beetle
About 75% of all woodworm damage - attacks hard and soft wood. Flight hole about 1.5mm diameter.	Particularly damaging in old buildings where hard wood has incurred previous decay. Flight hole about 3mm diameter.
